We get this question a lot. “Which is better: mobile PDR or shop PDR?”
The honest answer is that neither option is better or worse. They just offer different services. Mobile PDR can offer a fantastic repair thats cost effective and convenient as it can be preformed at a clients home or even at work.
At EZ Auto Spa Auto Spa we started as a completely mobile repair company. In fact, many of our current clients first met our team on a mobile repair call.
Over time, though, we found that as PDR tools developed and our skills progressed we pushed the boundaries on what damage could be repaired using Paintless Dent Repair. Larger, more complex damage can be repaired that we might once have not attempted.
This larger, more complicated damage sometimes requires more time to repair. Doing so in a mobile capacity became more and more challenging. We also find that the shop facilitates more precise part removal and can even allow us to re-calibrate or scan vehicles when needed.
Whichever option is a better fit for you, it nearly always makes sense to consult with a technician to see what they can do. Whether it’s EZ Auto Spa or someone else, have them look at your damage and consult you on your real repair scenario. Most metal has a memory and can be manipulated back to its original shape but it takes great patience and it must be done very slowly and methodically, using the correct tools and with the right conditions.
In order to protect the integrity of the exterior paint, technicians will need to control the entire process from start to finish. In a mobile environment, a technician may need to would in a garage or a temperature controlled environment to replicate a shop. We do use glues and adhesives to move chunks of metal quickly, but it will always require some fine tuning, pushing and blending to make it look actually perfect.
