Ceramic vs. Carbon Tint Explained

Infiniti

Window Tinting has come a long way in just a few years. Thanks to incredible advances in material science, car owners have a wide range of choices for window tinting. Do you want privacy, heat-reduction, safety, or all the above? Here’s how the two most common material choices stack up.

Ceramic Window Tint

Ceramic window tint is made from a single, thick panel of non-metallic, dyed material that blocks out heat and UV rays as well as repels water and dirt. In addition to protecting your car’s interior from harmful sun exposure, ceramic tints also cut down on fading and discoloring of your interior. They are very, very difficult to scratch and will keep the light out for much longer than other tints.

Ceramic tints are great because they protect you from all angles, inside and outside of your car- no matter where the sun is hitting! Another benefit of ceramic window tint is that it’s a better value once you consider how long it lasts, even if it’s a bit more upfront.

Carbon Window Tint

Carbon window tint looks great on a car, but doesn’t have the same heat rejection capabilities of ceramic. It does, however, protect from UV rays and repel water and dirt. It also comes in a wide range of colors to suit any car owner’s style! In general, carbon window tint is cheaper than ceramic but can still be fairly expensive.

As with all window tints, carbon is very hard to scratch- but it is slightly easier to scratch than ceramic tinting. It also doesn’t last as long- even though it may look better and not cost as much upfront.

So…ceramic vs carbon tint?

Well, it depends (sorry!). Ceramic will be better is you are driving your car for longer – and want more flexibility. Carbon is great if you are looking for something that will work faster now (and be a bit cheaper).
