Why is repairing a dent on a Rivian so expensive?
We’d like to say that they don’t have to be. They just have that reputation.
Rivian repairs are often expensive because of their proprietary body & non-standard automotive parts. A *replacement* repair can only be repaired by an authorized Rivian shop, since only they have access to parts. This lack of competition for OEM parts & labor makes the price very high.
Since EZ Auto Spa is able to repair the *existing* part, we are uniquely able to compete with in-house Rivian shops on price. Most of our repairs are distinctly not expensive, compared to the return on a restored, beautiful Rivian. We are able to offer affordable repair with a faster turn around time because, well, we have to compete with Rivian. Additionally, since we are repairing the factory installed part – our work will be higher-quality than any full replacement job at a Rivian shop.
Do I need to bring my car to your shop for an inspection before you get started?
No, an inspection is not usually necessary. We can usually make a general assessment based on pictures and a general description. Now, as with any repair work, if we can see it in person, we can provide a more accurate estimate & schedule. But neither is necessary.
If you aren’t sure, give us a call or chat! Our store managers love fielding questions and talking shop, especially with Rivian owners. Zero pressure or obligation – and we won’t hesitate to provide a referral if we’re just not the best fit for your repair, such as in the case of a collision or possible structural damage.
